September 2011 As
I turned 60 at the end of 2008 I wondered, "How did I ever get this old!"
It seems like yesterday I was working in my parents' Italian grocery store
and walking the streets of Kenosha, taking piano lessons, putting on
plays, traveling to Costa Rica! Yet, I am grateful to have arrived at this
wonderful age with good health and two grown married children and four
beautiful grandchildren who bring me more joy than I could ever have
imagined. Since I have had a long and rewarding career in the
not-for-profit sector, I plan to work a few more years and am also
grateful to be the Associate Commissioner for Prevention, Recovery,
Housing, Technology & Management Services for the New York State Office of
Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services. Even though my life has not gone as
planned - personally or professionally - it has brought me many unexpected
blessings. As I look to the future I am grateful for every day that I am
given and look forward to seeing my former classmates in June of 2012!
